Resources for Donors

Philanthropy is a way to make our collective dreams become
realities for the South Wood County and Rome area.  We take
pride in the Community Foundation's flexibility and its
ability to help donors "do good"  their way, in their
own communities.

Donors may choose to create:
    - an unrestricted fund to meet the changing needs of the
South Wood County area,
    - a fund in memory of a loved one,
    - or a donor-advised fund which operates like a private
foundation while minimizing expenses and time-consuming
administration.  Whatever the choice, funds remain in
the name of the donor permanently, and the Community
Foundation handles all the necessary support to complete t
he donor's philanthropic requests.

Darin Reshke enjoyed a day having fun and supporting his community at Community Foundation Day at Altenburg's Country Gardens.

To see a complete list of funds at CFGSWC: click Publications for our annual Grants Report; it will show you the names of funds, types of funds, and examples of grants made during our fiscal year, July 1 - June 30.

New legislation benefits donors age 70 1/2 and older:  For years, estate planners have recommended that retirement assets may be the most tax-effective asset in larger estates to distribute to charity.  These assets are not only vulnerable to heavy taxation as part of an estate, but also can be taxed again as income in respect to a decedent on the tax return of heirs.  Until now, there was a disincentive for retirees to give IRAs to charity during their lifetimes because withdrawals from IRAs were subject to income tax.  Click Publications to view information on Charitable Gift IRAs.

New annuity enables donors to receive income now:  Community Foundation of Greater South Wood County now offers Charitable Gift Annuities for donors who wish to make a charitable gift while providing a new income source for themselves.  Click Publications to view information on Charitable Gift Annuities.
