Critical Impact Award Reflects Residents' Commitment to Build Strong Communities

When  people in a community share a common vision, they can do great things.

Local residents, working with the Community Foundation of Greater South Wood County, the Barker Mead Fund, and the Ford Foundation, have made significant investments in developing existing community assets, stimulating entrepreneurial growth, and harnessing the power of philanthropy to promote the common good, through the Community Progress Initiative.

& Skill Development

SOCIAL CAPITAL.  Being connected to and involved in the places we call home helps to strengthen our relationships and increase trust, civic engagement, information sharing, and cooperation - all essential to building strong communities.

STRATEGIC PHILANTHROPY.
We learn to share when young, and as we get older ... by deliberately - strategically - choosing how to share our wealth, we help create long-term community development through grantmaking by individuals, corporations, government, and foundations.

RESEARCH & SKILL DEVELOPMENT.  By creating an environment for learning - through expertise, knowledge, networking, and money - we provide the opportunity for individuals and organizations to grow in wisdom, experience, skills, and capacity - all essential to buidling a stronger community.
